The City of Golden, just 15 miles west of Denver, is nestled under two stunning mesas at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Golden has a long relationship with bicycling, and offers much for bicyclists of all ages and skill levels including the Golden Bike Park. The Golden Bike Library is a bike share system where visitors, residents, local employees and students can “check-out” a bike for a limited time for local use.
Golden is home to Fossil Trace Golf Course which is considered one of Denver’s top golf courses and a premier destination to play.
Along this 40-mile scenic route, Lariat Loop traverses rich foothills just west of Denver and acts as a reminder of early auto touring. The loop crosses Lookout Mountain through the five-mile Lariat Trail and connects the towns of Golden, Morrison and Evergreen. Lariat Loop offers many attractions, including open parks, museums, and heritage sites, all placed amid canyons and meadows.
The City of Golden owns and maintains 402 acres of open space, as well as an interconnected trail system of 24 miles, providing diversity in both types of trail experience and destinations. In addition, Golden residents are fortunate to be surrounded by nearly 8,000 acres of regional open space.
Splash Water Park at Fossil Trace is a great place for all ages to cool down during summertime. Dedicated in 1998, the Clear Creek Whitewater Park is one of Golden’s most unique recreational attractions. Built for recreational canoeing and kayaking, the course is one quarter of a mile of adventurous, splashing fun!
